Genesis Officially Reveals the GV60 Magma 2027 The Most Powerful Production Car in the Brand's History

Genesis has officially revealed pricing for the 2027 GV60 Magma in the U.S. market, marking the first production model under the brand's new high-performance sub-brand, Magma, and the most powerful vehicle Genesis has ever produced to date.

Starting Price of $69,950

Genesis has officially announced U.S. pricing for the 2027 GV60 Magma, with a starting MSRP of $69,950, excluding a $1,545 destination fee. Including this fee, the total price comes to $71,495.

The car will initially launch at select dealerships in California, New York, and New Jersey, with broader availability to follow later.

Performance That Places It Among Electric Performance Cars

In terms of power, the dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivers a standard combined output of 601 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque. When the Boost button on the steering wheel is activated, these figures temporarily rise to 641 horsepower and 790 Newton-meters (583 lb-ft) for up to 15 seconds, delivering instant and decisive acceleration.

Thanks to the dedicated Launch Control system, the car accelerates from a standstill to 97 km/h (60 mph) in just 3.4 seconds, reaching 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.9 seconds. Top speed comes in at 264 km/h (164 mph).

The car draws power from an 84-kWh battery pack, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes thanks to its 800-volt electrical architecture. As for range, Genesis officially states an electric driving range of up to 357 kilometers (222 miles), based on U.S. EPA ratings.

Bold Sport-Focused Design Exclusive to the Magma Brand

The GV60 Magma sits nearly a full inch lower than the standard GV60, with a wider stance, exclusive 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in 275mm-wide Pirelli tires, and 15.7-inch front brake discs with monoblock calipers. Chrome trim disappears entirely from the design, replaced by dark metal accents and glossy black components that reinforce its sporty character.

Inside, the car features exclusive bucket seats in orange and titanium gray, alongside a distinctive steering wheel design and orange accents on the drive mode and Boost buttons. The car retains the brand's signature spherical "Crystal Sphere" gear selector, which rotates to reveal the control dial upon startup.

Simulated Sound and Virtual Gear Shifting

One of the most notable technical features of the GV60 Magma is its Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) system. Like its performance siblings from Hyundai and Genesis, the car simulates internal combustion engine sounds along with virtual upshifts and downshifts. This system recreates the sensation of shifting gears in a high-performance vehicle through virtual RPM technology, authentic shift feedback, visual gear indicators, and sound fully synchronized with the car's performance.

The car also offers five driving modes (Range, Comfort, Sport, Sprint, and GT), including a GT mode dedicated to balancing high-speed comfort with performance and efficiency, and a Sprint mode for maximum responsiveness and handling control during spirited driving. The car also isn't without a Drift mode, designed for enthusiasts of sideways driving.
