Hyundai Motor Group has announced the launch of an all-new hybrid system that sets a new benchmark for efficiency and performance. The announcement was made during the “Next-Generation Hybrid System Tech Day.” This advanced system features a sophisticated transmission that integrates two electric motors and is designed to work seamlessly with a variety of internal combustion engines. It offers up to 45% improved fuel efficiency and 19% more power compared to conventional engines in the same category.
Key Highlights of the Announcement:
Dual-Motor System: The system features a P1 motor responsible for start-up and power generation, and a P2 motor dedicated to propulsion and regenerative braking. This setup enhances driving smoothness while reducing noise and vibrations.
New Engine Options: Two new hybrid engines will be introduced—a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine and a 1.6-liter engine. The former will make its debut in the upcoming hybrid version of the PALISADE.
Advanced Electric Technologies: The system supports electric all-wheel drive (e-AWD), the latest electronic stability control system (e-VMC 2.0), and features such as cornering control and emergency braking systems. It also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality with an output capacity of up to 3.6 kW.
Stay Mode: This mode allows passengers to use comfort features like air conditioning and multimedia without turning on the engine, powered by a high-voltage battery.
Enhanced Efficiency: The engine design has been optimized, with improved thermal injection strategies and compression techniques, achieving fuel consumption of up to 14.1 km/l in certain models, such as the new PALISADE, which delivers a combined power output of 334 horsepower.
Future Expansion Plans:
Hyundai Motor Group aims to expand the new hybrid system across various vehicle segments, from compact to luxury models, including the premium Genesis brand. The company will continue to develop its current technologies and introduce innovative solutions in hybrid and electric mobility to deliver a more advanced and eco-friendly driving experience.
Note: The launch schedule for the new system may vary depending on the vehicle model and market.
