Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 2026 Arrives in the Middle East with a 2.7-Liter Engine and 4WD

Toyota Motor Corporation has launched the all-new Land Cruiser FJ in the Middle East, introducing a new member to the iconic Land Cruiser family alongside the Land Cruiser 300, Land Cruiser 70, and Land Cruiser Prado.

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ combines the off-road capabilities associated with the Land Cruiser name with a more compact footprint that improves maneuverability. It also features a design inspired by the model’s heritage, along with modern technologies aimed at enhancing comfort, safety, and everyday usability.

Land Cruiser FJ Brings a New Chapter to the Legendary Nameplate

Toyota developed the new Land Cruiser FJ around a concept focused on freedom and enjoyment, while maintaining the core values that have defined the Land Cruiser family for decades, including reliability, durability, and off-road capability.

The Land Cruiser story dates back to 1951 with the launch of the original Toyota BJ. Since then, the model has evolved through real-world use in some of the world’s most demanding environments.

According to Toyota, cumulative Land Cruiser sales have reached approximately 12.4 million vehicles across more than 190 countries and regions worldwide.

Masaya Uchiyama, Chief Engineer of Land Cruiser at Toyota Motor Corporation, said the development of the FJ was based on the original essence of the model, while creating a vehicle that gives a broader range of customers greater freedom to enjoy life and use their vehicle in their own way.

Compact Dimensions for Improved Maneuverability

The Land Cruiser FJ features more compact dimensions than the Land Cruiser Prado, with a 258 cm wheelbase, approximately 27 cm shorter than the Prado.

This configuration contributes to a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters, improving maneuverability in urban areas, narrow trails, and challenging off-road environments.

The vehicle measures 457.5 cm in length and 185.5 cm in width, while its overall geometry has been designed to maintain the essential capabilities required for off-road driving.

The vehicle also features ground clearance and approach and departure angles designed to support confident driving over challenging terrain. Its wheel articulation is inspired by the capabilities of the Land Cruiser 70, helping maintain tire contact with the ground over uneven surfaces.

2.7-Liter Naturally Aspirated Engine with 163 HP

In Middle Eastern markets, the Land Cruiser FJ is powered by a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine.

The engine produces a maximum output of 120 kW, equivalent to 163 PS, with peak torque rated at 246 Nm.

Power is sent through a six-speed Super ECT automatic transmission, combined with a part-time four-wheel-drive system.

Reinforced Chassis and Off-Road Suspension

Toyota has reinforced the FJ's structure by shortening the wheelbase and adding underfloor braces to improve the chassis’ lateral rigidity.

The vehicle also uses high-tensile steel that combines strength with reduced weight, while additional spot welding beneath the floor helps improve vibration damping and ride comfort.

At the front, the FJ uses a Double Wishbone suspension, while the rear employs a solid axle with a four-link layout and lateral rod, providing a balance between on-road comfort and stability and off-road capability.

Systems Designed for Challenging Terrain

The Land Cruiser FJ comes with several systems designed to support drivers when tackling difficult off-road conditions.

The Downhill Assist Control system helps maintain a controlled speed when descending steep slopes, allowing the driver to focus on steering.

The Hill-start Assist Control system helps reduce backward roll when starting on an incline, while the electric rear differential lock improves traction by helping both rear wheels rotate together when additional grip is required.

Heritage-Inspired Exterior Design

Toyota has retained the boxy design associated with the Land Cruiser nameplate, while giving it a more modern interpretation.

The exterior combines straight lines, defined angles, and prominent wheel arches, with distinctive U-shaped front and rear lighting elements.

The design also incorporates heritage-inspired details, including the rear-mounted spare wheel and Toyota emblem. Roof rails provide a practical solution for carrying outdoor equipment and longer items, while side steps make getting in and out easier.

The Mid grade features 43.2 cm wheels, while the High grade comes with larger 45.7 cm wheels.

The vehicle is available in five monochromatic exterior colors: Pearl White, Gray, Black, Bronze, and Smoky Blue.

Five-Seat Interior with Flexible Cargo Space

Inside, the Land Cruiser FJ features a two-row, five-seat cabin, with a strong focus on usability, visibility, and cargo flexibility.

The rear bench is split 60:40 and can be slid forward and backward, reclined, and folded to accommodate different passenger and cargo arrangements.

With the rear seats in place, cargo capacity reaches 795 liters, increasing to 1,607 liters when the second row is folded.

Cargo floor length measures 73.5 cm in the standard configuration and increases to 148 cm with the rear seats folded, providing additional space for travel gear, outdoor equipment, and other large items.

12.3-Inch Display and Digital Technology

The cabin features a 12.3-inch infotainment display, integrated into a horizontal dashboard design intended to provide the driver with a clear view of the vehicle’s surroundings.

Toyota has also positioned the controls and displays to minimize unnecessary eye movement while driving, while the low dashboard and windshield layout help improve forward visibility over uneven terrain.

Toyota Safety Sense for the High Grade

The High grade is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense active safety package, which includes technologies such as a Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert.

The High grade also offers a Panoramic View Monitor and Blind Spot Monitor, helping the driver maneuver in tight spaces and monitor vehicles that may be difficult to see through the mirrors.

Two Grades for the Middle East

Toyota is offering the new Land Cruiser FJ in the Middle East in two grades:

Mid and High

Both grades share the model’s core capabilities, while the High grade adds additional safety, technology, and comfort features.

Land Cruiser FJ: Smaller, More Agile, and More Versatile

With the introduction of the FJ, Toyota is expanding the Land Cruiser family with a smaller and more maneuverable model without abandoning the characteristics that have defined the nameplate for decades, including off-road capability, reliability, and durability.

The vehicle is aimed at customers who want the capabilities of a Land Cruiser in a more compact package suited to everyday urban driving, while still offering the ability to take on weekend adventures and challenging trails.
