Hyundai Unveils the All-New 2027 Bayon With a Boxy Design and a New Hybrid Option

Hyundai has officially unveiled the all-new second-generation 2027 Hyundai Bayon at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026, introducing a compact crossover with a bolder, more boxy design, larger dimensions, and an upgraded interior featuring advanced technology and comfort features inspired by models in higher segments.

With the new generation, the South Korean automaker aims to strengthen the Bayon's position as a small sport utility vehicle (SUV), offering greater practicality, advanced technology, and, for the first time in the model's history, a hybrid powertrain option.

A Stronger Exterior Design and Larger Dimensions

Hyundai has adopted its Art of Steel design language for the new Bayon, giving the vehicle a more robust appearance through sharp lines and a boxy body shape. The front end features a prominent design and a modern lighting signature that aligns with the company's latest styling direction.

The vehicle also features pronounced wheel arches and increased ground clearance, along with wheels measuring up to 18 inches, depending on the trim level. These changes give the Bayon a more traditional SUV appearance compared with its predecessor.

Digital Interior and Enhanced Comfort Features

The interior has been upgraded with two 12.3-inch displays: one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. The vehicle also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Depending on the trim level and market, available features include a digital key, a Bose sound system, and improved rear-seat comfort. These enhancements include increased legroom and adjustable rear seatback angles, while additional equipment may include heated seats and rear air vents.

Hyundai has also retained physical controls for essential functions, making them easier to operate while driving rather than relying entirely on touchscreen interfaces.

Petrol Engines and a New Hybrid Option

At launch, the new Bayon is offered with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine in two power outputs:

  • 90 PS, equivalent to approximately 89 bhp.
  • 115 PS, equivalent to approximately 113 bhp.

The petrol versions are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power delivered to the front wheels.

The most significant development is the addition of a full-hybrid powertrain to the Bayon lineup during 2027. The system is expected to produce approximately 138 PS, equivalent to around 136 bhp, marking the first time the model will be offered with a full-hybrid option.

This new powertrain is expected to improve fuel efficiency compared with conventional petrol versions. However, final official fuel-consumption figures and detailed performance specifications may vary by version and market, and not all details had been confirmed at the initial reveal.

Market Launch and Expected Price

Hyundai is scheduled to begin introducing the new Bayon to European markets in spring 2027. Further details regarding availability, pricing, and final specifications are expected closer to its market launch.

Regarding pricing, Hyundai has not yet officially announced the UK price for the new generation. Media estimates suggest that the starting price could be approximately $33,300.

This figure remains an estimate rather than an official manufacturer price. It also does not necessarily reflect the expected price in Arab markets, where final prices are influenced by taxes, import duties, shipping costs, and market-specific specifications.

With the second-generation Bayon, Hyundai is banking on a combination of bolder styling, a digital interior, everyday practicality, and a new hybrid powertrain to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive compact crossover segment worldwide.
