The Energy Commission Reveals Its Plan to Provide GPS Service for Electric Vehicle Charging Locations

Following the announcement by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission of its decision to prohibit the issuance of licenses for new fuel stations unless they are equipped with charging stations for various types of electric vehicles, Engineer Ziad Al-Saaydeh, the head of the commission, reveals today an innovative plan to provide GPS services for electric vehicle charging locations in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy.

Al-Saaydeh also pointed out that the main challenge today lies in the diversity of specifications for electric vehicle charging ports, with different systems coming from China, Europe, and the United States.

On this basis, Al-Saaydeh affirmed that the teams in the Directorate of Judicial Control will conduct a thorough inspection of fuel stations that provide charging services for electric vehicles, with the aim of ensuring that services are provided adequately to all owners of these vehicles, regardless of their origin, whether they are Chinese, European, or American.

He explained that the role of the commission is to facilitate the investment process in establishing electric vehicle charging stations in various regions of the kingdom, following numerous complaints from electric vehicle users in Jordan due to the shortage of charging stations, especially on highways in the country.

On the other hand, Engineer Al-Harith Al-Shaboul, the secretary of the Vehicles Committee in the Engineering Industries Department at the Standards and Metrology Institute, warned through the "Al-Wakeel" program against the necessity of not installing an adapter between the charging point and the Chinese vehicle's charging port to avoid overheating.

The Standards and Metrology Institute had previously cautioned against the use of this type of adapter for charging vehicles and called on stations not to use it, according to Al-Shaboul's statements.
