Volkswagen Unveils Electric ID. Tiguan with 299 HP and Up to 600 km of Range

Volkswagen has officially unveiled its new all-electric ID. Tiguan, marking another step in the company's strategy to expand its electric vehicle lineup. The new mid-size SUV features an entirely redesigned exterior, a more advanced interior, improved material quality, updated controls, and enhanced digital technologies.
The vehicle is scheduled to reach markets in early 2027, replacing the ID.4 and ID.5 within Volkswagen's electric lineup, while the conventional Tiguan will continue to be offered with petrol, diesel, and hybrid powertrains.
A New Exterior Design and a Stronger Identity
The ID. Tiguan adopts Volkswagen's new Pure Positive design language, giving it a more confident and distinctive appearance compared with the brand's previous electric crossovers.
The vehicle features precise exterior lines and sculpted surfaces that give it a more premium visual presence. It also returns to conventional pull-type door handles, moving away from some of the alternative designs used in modern electric vehicles.
Through these changes, Volkswagen aims to combine a contemporary appearance with everyday practicality while maintaining the German brand's familiar design identity.
A Digital Interior with Three Screens
One of the ID. Tiguan's most notable upgrades is its digital cockpit, which includes a 10-inch driver display, a 15-inch central infotainment screen, and a separate 12-inch screen for the front passenger.
The passenger display provides access to entertainment, information, and games. A privacy mode prevents the driver from viewing its content while driving, and the passenger can use Bluetooth headphones to listen to audio independently.
Volkswagen has also brought back physical buttons for essential functions, including climate control and volume adjustment. The multifunction steering wheel features physical buttons as well, reducing the need to rely entirely on touch-sensitive controls.
The cabin also includes display interfaces inspired by classic Volkswagen models, allowing drivers to recreate the instrument cluster design of the Golf IV, alongside customizable elements on the central screen.
Three Electric Powertrain Options
The ID. Tiguan is based on Volkswagen's MEB+ platform and will be available with three powertrain options, differing in output and battery capacity:
- Entry-level version: A rear-mounted electric motor producing 190 hp, paired with a 58 kWh battery.
- Mid-range version: A rear-mounted electric motor producing 286 hp, paired with a 77 kWh battery.
- Top version: An all-wheel-drive 4MOTION system producing 299 hp, paired with a 77 kWh battery.
The vehicle offers a driving range of up to 600 km on a single charge under the WLTP cycle, depending on the version and equipment. Maximum towing capacity ranges from 1,800 to 2,000 kg, depending on the battery configuration.
Storage Space and Driver Assistance Technologies
The updates extend beyond design and digital features. The ID. Tiguan provides an additional 32 litres of front storage space, while the rear luggage compartment offers up to 534 litres of capacity.
Available technologies include one-pedal driving and Connected Travel Assist, which incorporates traffic light recognition to help support the driver in different driving conditions.
Depending on the trim level and equipment, the vehicle can also feature massage and ventilated seats, a Harman Kardon sound system, and additional comfort features designed to enhance long-distance journeys.
Launch Date and Position Within Volkswagen's Lineup
Volkswagen is expected to begin introducing the ID. Tiguan to markets in early 2027. The vehicle will be offered in four trim levels: Trend, Life, Style, and R-Line.
The new model forms part of Volkswagen's strategy to reorganize its electric vehicle lineup around familiar model names rather than relying exclusively on the numerical naming system used across the ID. family. The ID. Tiguan will replace the ID.4 and ID.5, which have recorded combined production of more than 950,000 units, according to the company.
Volkswagen has not announced final prices for all markets in its official unveiling announcement. It has also yet to confirm when the vehicle will arrive in Jordan or which specifications will be offered in the Jordanian market.
