Volkswagen Officially Unveils the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan with Multiple Engine Options

Volkswagen is gearing up to launch an entirely new version of its compact SUV, the Tiguan, for 2024. The Tiguan is one of the company's best-selling vehicles, and this comes after years since its last release.

The new version boasts a redesigned look that goes beyond aesthetics to provide improved performance, with a drag coefficient of just 0.28. Customers will have the option to choose between gasoline engines, turbocharged diesel engines, and a hybrid system.

Of particular interest is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, with Volkswagen claiming it can offer an electric driving range of up to 100 kilometers.

Volkswagen has not yet provided any additional information about these new models or the specific drivetrain used. However, elements from the design of the new ID series of vehicles have been incorporated.

In addition to exterior improvements, the interior of the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan has been completely redesigned. Notable updates in the interface include physical buttons on the new steering wheel and a new rotary controller for some functions, including volume control. The 15-inch touchscreen remains, surrounded by touch controls for the climate system, but it appears to have been updated from the previous ID.7 and ID.4 models with backlit buttons and improved entertainment system performance.

Moreover, the interior features ample ambient lighting, and the seats are available with massage and automatic heating functions. Volkswagen has also provided additional cargo space, totaling 1.3 cubic feet, raising the overall space to over 23 cubic feet. The long-wheelbase version destined for the United States is expected to be much larger in terms of space.

Standard safety features include lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, road sign recognition, and automatic emergency braking. Volkswagen also offers a parking assist system and a driving assistance function.

As previously mentioned, the United States will receive the long-wheelbase version, which will be significantly larger than the standard edition. This version is expected to hit the markets sometime next year. While it's unlikely to get the diesel engine option, the PHEV variant has a good chance of competing well in the growing hybrid market.
