In the coming months, the automotive world will witness a groundbreaking event with the debut of the first electric Range Rover, as the company diligently tests preliminary models before entering production.

The company, now part of the "Jaguar Land Rover group", hinted at its eagerly anticipated release through a teaser video released on its official channels a few days ago. Alongside this, the company outlined its future plans and touched upon some details of what to expect.

The teaser video made it clear that the electric version of the fifth generation Range Rover will share the standard longitudinal platform with the current model, which relies on an internal combustion engine. While the final design remains shrouded in secrecy, the teaser images reveal several aesthetic touches, including "EV" badges at the center of the wheels.

The size of the vehicle is expected to remain unchanged, but the front design might undergo changes to enhance its aerodynamics. Although details about the electric motor are still scarce, the company promises performance comparable to V8 internal combustion engines, which we believe poses a significant and noteworthy challenge.

The current model relies on a 4.4-liter BMW V8 engine with twin turbos, generating up to 523 horsepower and 749 Newton-meters of torque. This powerful engine enables the heavy SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 249 km/h and a towing capacity of 3719 kg.

In the anticipated electric version, it is expected that the 800-volt electric system will provide relatively fast charging times. The company emphasizes that the shift to electric power will not compromise the vehicle's off-road capabilities, a hallmark of traditional Range Rovers.

The electric vehicle will also be capable of wading through water up to a depth of 85 cm, a slight reduction from the V8-powered version's 90 cm. The car is being developed to deliver a quiet driving experience, thanks to a unique configuration designed to cancel out road noise, a feature Land Rover proudly highlights.

The electric Range Rover will be manufactured in Solihull, England, with an official announcement expected in the coming months. While the company has already started accepting pre-orders for the vehicle, pricing information has yet to be disclosed.
