The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has expanded its network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, now offering more than 740 Green Charger points across the city. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s commitment to sustainable mobility and supports the UAE’s goal of transitioning 50% of vehicles to electric by 2050.

Currently, Dubai boasts over 34,970 registered electric vehicles, making this charging infrastructure essential for supporting their growing adoption. DEWA has made it easier for users to locate these charging points through its website, mobile application, and various digital platforms.

In a significant move to promote private sector involvement in EV infrastructure, DEWA has issued the first two Independent Charge Point Operator (CPO) licenses to Tesla and UAEV. This development is part of Dubai’s broader vision of becoming a global leader in sustainable energy and green mobility.

Looking ahead, DEWA plans to increase the number of Green Charger points to 1,000 by 2025, further reducing carbon emissions and enhancing accessibility for EV users. To date, DEWA’s charging network has facilitated over 720,000 charging sessions, saving more than 237,000 tons of carbon emissions. These efforts reflect Dubai's ambitious sustainability goals and its drive towards cleaner energy solutions.
