Mercedes has officially unveiled the new electric "prototype" version of its CLA for the first time at the "International Motor Show Germany" held in Munich. This electric version of the CLA stands out with an electric driving range exceeding 750 kilometers on a single charge, according to the company's statements.
What's truly impressive about the Mercedes CLA electric prototype is its elegant and modern exterior design, hinting at a futuristic leap in Mercedes' exterior bodywork designs. The front end has been redesigned, featuring distinctive LED headlights reminiscent of the Mercedes logo. A broad light strip extends across the width of the car, reaching the driver and front passenger doors, while the front grille boasts a closed design adorned with Mercedes' iconic stars.
On the sides, the car exhibits a streamlined design with large sporty wheels measuring 21 inches in size. The rear lights mimic the light strip seen at the front and showcase a star-shaped design, echoing Mercedes' emblem.
Inside, the Mercedes CLA electric offers an innovative interior design, with a control unit integrating five screens. Three large central screens support the new MB system from the German brand, powered by a high-performance processor from the renowned tech company Nvidia. The two additional screens have a circular design and control the air conditioning system through the ventilation openings for the driver and front passenger.
Mercedes mentions that the car's infotainment system provides numerous customizable options to suit the driver's preferences, along with an intelligent assistant and a display for showcasing NFT artwork owned by the car's owner.
In addition to advanced technologies, the interior of the Mercedes CLA electric features futuristic touches in the seat and central console design. The large panoramic glass roof stands out with its starry Mercedes emblem, visible in various exterior parts of the car.
Regarding the electric system of the Mercedes CLA, it relies on the advanced MMA platform developed by Mercedes, offering a longer wheelbase compared to internal combustion engine versions. It can accommodate a pair of electric motors with an all-wheel-drive system. However, the initial version of the electric CLA will feature a single electric motor producing 235 horsepower and weighing less than 110 kilograms.
Alongside the electric motor, the Mercedes CLA will utilize a new battery, the capacity of which hasn't been disclosed yet. Nevertheless, Mercedes states that it will provide a driving range exceeding 750 kilometers on a single charge, with the possibility of gaining an additional 400 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes using a high-power charger boasting 250 kW and an 800-volt electrical system.
In conclusion, Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced the launch date for the production version of the CLA electric. However, expectations suggest that it will hit the European markets by the end of next year. We will provide more details as soon as they become available.
