Toyota Hilux 2024: New Additions and Infinite Capabilities

The 2024 Toyota Hilux has proudly shattered technological barriers by incorporating advanced technologies in both diesel and hybrid fields, providing a unique touch and tangible improvement in efficiency for this renowned pickup truck. While this distinctive version is currently available in European markets, the fundamental question remains: Will these advanced capabilities make their way to our Arab markets?

The new Hilux stands out with a moderate hybrid system relying on a 48-volt battery. This seamlessly integrates with a 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, resulting in a combined power of 201 horsepower and a torque of 369 Newton-meters. The electric motor acts as an efficient companion, contributing to enhanced driving force and improved fuel efficiency.

The powerful lithium battery plays a vital role in activating the engine. Despite being a light hybrid technology, it does not offer a full electric driving mode. According to Toyota statements, the performance of the 2024 Hilux Hybrid highlights improved fuel efficiency by 5% compared to the standard diesel-based model. This increase is partially attributed to the enhanced start-stop system, which facilitates a smoother driving experience in congested traffic, allowing the electric motor to pause for longer periods during slow-speed driving. Toyota engineers also address the diesel engine's deceleration speed to reduce fuel consumption.

Despite Toyota's general claim of a 5% increase in fuel efficiency, detailed performance specifications have not yet been made available to the public. Alongside the hybrid features, the new Hilux Hybrid boasts an advanced terrain selection system, offering six driving modes designed to adapt to various challenges. Additionally, improvements in isolating electrical components enhance its durability in rugged conditions.
