BYD has revealed new details about its Leopard Ti9, the latest model from its luxury off-road brand Fang Cheng Bao. The large SUV combines a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a turbocharged gasoline engine and two electric motors, delivering a blend of strong performance, advanced technology, and premium features.

The Leopard Ti9 belongs to the large SUV segment and is based on BYD’s new DMS platform. It features an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and combines powerful performance with a luxurious cabin and advanced driving technologies.

Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain Producing 536 HP

The Leopard Ti9 is powered by a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 115 kW, equivalent to approximately 154 hp, alongside two electric motors positioned on the front and rear axles.

The electric motors deliver a combined maximum output of 400 kW, or approximately 536 hp, while the vehicle’s AWD system provides power to all four wheels.

The SUV is also equipped with BYD’s advanced DiSus-P Ultra hydraulic suspension system, as well as rear-wheel steering. These technologies help improve stability, handling, and maneuverability, particularly given the vehicle’s large dimensions.

The Leopard Ti9 has a top speed of 220 km/h, while its towing capacity reaches approximately 2,000 kg when equipped with an electric tow hitch.

66.5 kWh Battery and 310 km Electric Range

The Leopard Ti9 is equipped with an LFP lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of approximately 66.5 kWh, providing a pure electric driving range of up to 310 km.

One of the vehicle’s key features is its fast-charging capability. According to the latest available information, the battery can be charged from 10% to 97% in around 9 minutes.

By combining electric power with the internal combustion engine, the vehicle achieves a total hybrid-system range of approximately 2,300 km, giving it greater long-distance capability while reducing the need for frequent charging or refueling stops.

Large Exterior Design with a Strong Road Presence

The Leopard Ti9 features an exterior design that combines luxury with a rugged character. It uses a monocoque body structure, along with pronounced body lines and prominent wheel arches that give the SUV a solid and muscular appearance.

At the front, the vehicle features distinctive ring-shaped daytime running lights, complemented by a bold front-end design and semi-hidden door handles that contribute to its streamlined appearance.

The SUV is also available with large wheels measuring up to 22 inches, while a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor forms part of its intelligent driving system.

At the rear, the Leopard Ti9 features vertically arranged taillights and a split tailgate that adds a practical touch to the design, particularly for a large family-oriented SUV.

More Than 5 Meters Long

The Leopard Ti9’s dimensions reflect its large size. The SUV measures 5,270 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,850 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm.

The vehicle’s curb weight stands at approximately 2,865 kg or 2,965 kg, depending on the trim, while its gross vehicle weight reaches 3,495 kg.

Several wheel and tire sizes are available, including 255/50R21, 255/45R22, and 275/45R22, depending on the trim and equipment level.

Luxurious Cabin with a 30-Inch Display

BYD has also revealed new details about the Leopard Ti9’s interior, which combines a luxurious design with modern digital technologies.

A prominent feature of the cabin is a massive 30-inch floating display integrated into the dashboard, accompanied by an LCD digital instrument cluster in front of the driver and a Head-Up Display (HUD) system.

The cabin features a premium design combining white surfaces with subtle gold accents, while suede-like materials cover the roof and front pillars. Ambient lighting further enhances the luxurious atmosphere.

The gear selector is positioned behind the steering wheel, while the center console features a wireless smartphone charger, two cupholders, and a selection of physical controls, combining digital technologies with traditional buttons.

Another notable feature is a refrigerator integrated into the armrest, which can also be accessed by second-row passengers.

Six Seats in a 2+2+2 Configuration

The Leopard Ti9 is offered with several cabin layout and equipment options. One of the configurations features six seats arranged in a 2+2+2 layout.

This configuration provides individual seats in the second row, along with practical seating space for passengers in the third row, making the SUV suitable for family use.

Key interior features include the 30-inch central display, LCD instrument cluster, Head-Up Display, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, an integrated refrigerator, and a range of physical controls.

Intelligent Driving Technologies with LiDAR

In terms of technology, the Leopard Ti9 features an intelligent driving system incorporating a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, alongside a range of cameras and radar sensors designed to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and support advanced driver-assistance systems.

These technologies are complemented by the DiSus-P Ultra hydraulic suspension system and rear-wheel steering, helping improve stability, handling, and maneuverability despite the vehicle’s substantial size and dimensions.

Leopard Ti9: A Combination of Luxury, Performance, and Technology

The Leopard Ti9 combines large-SUV proportions with luxury and advanced technologies. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers up to 536 hp from the electric motors, while its pure electric range reaches up to 310 km and its total hybrid range stands at approximately 2,300 km.

The SUV also combines a bold exterior design with a premium interior and advanced technology, including a 30-inch display, Head-Up Display, roof-mounted LiDAR, the DiSus-P Ultra hydraulic suspension system, and rear-wheel steering, making it one of the most notable new models in Fang Cheng Bao’s lineup under BYD.
