Toyota Prepares to Unveil the All-New GR GT… A Twin-Turbo V8 Supercar

Toyota is gearing up to reveal one of its most important performance cars in recent years, with the global debut of the all-new GR GT supercar scheduled for December 5, followed by its first public appearance at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.

The new model represents the production version of the GR GT3 Concept, first introduced four years ago, and brings back the spirit of pure Japanese performance blended with the advanced racing technologies developed through Toyota’s endurance-racing programs.

Design Inspired by GT3 Racing

Toyota’s latest teaser finally showed the production model without camouflage, revealing aggressive proportions, a long sculpted hood, and a wide, muscular rear end worthy of a true supercar.

The design language blends elements reminiscent of the legendary Toyota 2000GT with hints inspired by the iconic Lexus LFA.

All-New Engine… 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8

One of the major highlights is the all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine developed specifically for future Toyota and Lexus performance cars.

Reports suggest the possible inclusion of hybrid electric assistance to boost output and throttle response, with expectations that higher-end versions may exceed 700 horsepower — pending official confirmation.

Two Versions: Road-Legal… and GT3 Race Car

Alongside the road-legal production variant, Toyota is expected to launch a dedicated GR GT3 race car to replace the aging Lexus RC F GT3 in global GT championships.

This move signals Toyota’s renewed commitment to the ultra-competitive GT3 racing class

Price Expected to Exceed $100,000

According to several global reports, pricing for the Toyota GR GT is expected to begin well above $100,000, with estimates ranging between $150,000 and $200,000, depending on trims and special editions.

While official pricing has not yet been announced, the market views the GR GT as a halo supercar showcasing Toyota’s new high-performance vision.

Why This Car Matters for Toyota

The GR GT represents a strategic step forward for Toyota, aiming to deliver a true contender in the supercar segment while reviving Japan’s performance heritage established by icons such as the LFA.

It also paves the way for future co-developed performance models with Lexus, as the new V8 engine will be shared between both brands.
