Geely Partners With Google to Bring Gemini, Maps, and Google Play to Its Cars Starting in 2027

Geely Holding Group has announced a global strategic partnership with Google aimed at integrating Google Automotive Services directly into the digital driving systems of its vehicles. The move is intended to enhance the in-car user experience and deliver smarter, connected services without relying solely on a smartphone.
According to Geely’s official announcement, released on October 16, 2026, the new services will include Google Gemini, the artificial intelligence assistant, Google Maps, the navigation application, and Google Play, alongside other digital services. The first vehicle applications are expected to begin rolling out in the second half of 2027 across eligible international markets outside China and the United States.
The partnership is part of Geely’s broader strategy to strengthen its vehicles’ digital capabilities and provide a more seamless, connected driving experience by integrating services that customers use every day directly into vehicle systems.
Google Gemini, Maps, and Play Coming to Geely Vehicle Interiors
Under the agreement, eligible vehicles from Geely Group brands in overseas markets will gain access to a range of integrated Google services, including:
Google Gemini: An AI-powered assistant that allows drivers to interact through natural voice conversations, using a multimodal AI model to deliver a more seamless in-car communication experience.
Google Maps: An integrated navigation system providing maps, directions, and route guidance to help drivers reach their destinations more easily.
Google Play: Provides access to a selection of applications compatible with vehicle systems, expanding the range of digital services and entertainment options available inside the cabin.
The platform will also support connectivity between different devices and provide a range of applications designed specifically for in-car use, aiming to create a more integrated driving experience and reduce the need to navigate between multiple systems and menus.
The partnership focuses on making digital features more accessible and natural to use, while helping drivers keep their attention on the road when using voice-based services and available functions.
Which Geely Brands Will Benefit From the Partnership?
The new services will not be limited to Geely-branded vehicles. They are expected to extend to several brands within Geely Holding Group’s portfolio, including:
- Geely: The group's core automotive brand, offering vehicles powered by gasoline, hybrid, and electric powertrains.
- Lynk & Co: A brand focused on connected vehicles and modern automotive technologies.
- Proton: The Malaysian automaker with which Geely has a strategic partnership.
- Riddara: A brand specializing in pickup trucks and multi-purpose vehicles.
- smart: A brand focused on urban mobility and compact vehicles, operating through a joint venture with Mercedes-Benz.
These brands are among those referenced in Geely’s official announcement. However, the rollout is intended for eligible passenger vehicles within the group’s portfolio and does not necessarily mean that every model or trim level will receive the services.
When Will Google Services Arrive in Geely Vehicles?
Geely has set the second half of 2027 as the target period for the initial rollout in overseas markets outside China and the United States. Availability is expected to expand gradually depending on vehicle readiness, market requirements, and the necessary regulatory approvals.
The company has not yet revealed which vehicle will be the first to receive the integrated Google services, nor has it published a final list of participating markets or detailed which features will be available in each vehicle.
Geely has also not announced a specific launch date for the system in Arab markets or Jordan. Although Geely Jordan shared the partnership announcement, local availability will require a further official announcement confirming the eligible models and markets.
A New Partnership Strengthening Google's Presence in the Automotive Industry
The new partnership builds on previous cooperation between companies within Geely’s portfolio and Google. Google built-in services have been available in the Polestar 2 since 2020.
The latest agreement aims to expand this experience across a wider range of brands and models within the group's portfolio in international markets, integrating navigation, artificial intelligence, and digital applications directly into vehicle systems.
On Google's side, Haris Ramic, Director of Product Management for Android for Cars, said the collaboration would give customers of Geely Group vehicles access to applications, navigation services, and an AI-powered personal assistant directly through their vehicle displays.
Through this partnership, Geely is looking to strengthen the digital experience in its vehicles by combining automotive systems with Google’s established services, as competition among automakers increasingly focuses on delivering smarter, more connected cabins that go beyond traditional driving information and vehicle controls.
