Toyota has officially announced its plans to develop a luxury SUV named "Senchery," which is expected to be ready by the end of 2023.
Through this move, Toyota aims to expand its lineup of luxury SUVs. After rumors about this new release circulated for a long time, Toyota officially confirmed the validity of these rumors and revealed a shaded image of the luxurious car, which bears a general resemblance to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Toyota has also made it clear that the new Senchery SUV will represent the pinnacle of design, comfort, luxury, and advanced technology. Western media outlets have started referring to this new car as the "Japanese Rolls-Royce."
According to initial reports, the Senchery SUV is expected to be built on the TNGA-K platform, which is used in many Toyota and Lexus models such as the Highlander, Lexus TX, the new Toyota Vanguard, and the luxurious Lexus LM minivan.
As for the engine, the car is expected to operate on a hybrid system, with its engine likely being a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, replacing the V8 engine used in the Senchery sedan version.
The starting price of the car in Japan is expected to be $105,000, making it more affordable than the sedan version, which starts at $140,000.
The new exclusive SUV will be produced by Toyota at its factory in Tahara, Japan, and it is likely to be exported to global markets.
