Not long ago, numerous photos of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 were circulated after it was transformed into a public taxi in Jordan. Today, cameras capture even more peculiar images of the 2023 Kia EV6, an all-new electric vehicle, but also as a public taxi!
These images somewhat reflect several positive aspects. Without the need for extensive contemplation, it has become clear that electric cars are being embraced as public transportation vehicles due to their cost savings for drivers and transport companies. On another note, they provide the latest in comfort and luxury for customers and passengers, marking a significant leap in public transportation services in Jordan.
Of course, these images also underscore the concept of the widespread adoption of electric cars in Jordan. The latest statistics have reported a significant surge in electric vehicle sales in Jordan. Fitch Solutions also anticipated a 45.9% increase in the number of electric cars sold in Jordan in 2023, reaching approximately 23,400 vehicles, compared to 16,000 vehicles sold in 2022.
Furthermore, a report from the agency-affiliated institution indicated that the number of electric vehicles on Jordanian roads has reached 60,000 vehicles, accounting for 3.3% of the total number of vehicles in the Jordanian market.
What do you think the future of public transportation in Jordan will look like in the coming years?
