Fuel Pricing for June 2026 in Jordan: Petrol and Kerosene Prices Frozen, Diesel Price Adjusted

The Fuel Pricing Committee at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources held its periodic meeting today, Sunday, May 31, 2026, to review global fuel derivative prices during the month of May and compare them with their counterparts from last April.

Based on direct government directives to contain the impact of rising global fuel prices and limit their direct repercussions on citizens and economic sectors, the committee decided to freeze most fuel derivative prices for the upcoming month of June in accordance with May prices, while adjusting the price of diesel, in a manner that does not reflect the actual costs of global prices.

Official Fuel Prices for June 2026

The pricing committee decided to adopt the fuel derivative prices for June as follows:

• Octane 90 Petrol: Price frozen at 1000 fils per liter without any increase.
• Octane 95 Petrol: Price frozen at 1310 fils per liter.
• Kerosene: Price frozen at 550 fils per liter without any increase.
• Domestic Gas Cylinder (12.5 kg): Price frozen at 7 JOD per cylinder, with continued government subsidy despite global price increases.
• Diesel (Solar): Price adjusted with an increase of 60 fils per liter to become 850 fils per liter instead of 790 fils.
• Local Jet Fuel: Price reduced by 10 fils per liter to become 783 fils per liter.

Comparison Between Actual Global Costs and Local Retail Prices

In its statement, the committee clarified the actual global costs of fuel derivatives for the month of June, showing the large gap borne by the government compared to the retail prices for citizens:

• Octane 90 Petrol: Local price is 1000 fils per liter, while its actual global cost is 1069 fils per liter.
• Octane 95 Petrol: Local price is 1310 fils per liter, matching its actual global cost of 1310 fils per liter.
• Diesel (Solar): Local price is 850 fils per liter, while its actual global cost reaches 960 fils per liter.
• Kerosene: Local price is 550 fils per liter, compared to its actual global cost of 943 fils per liter.
• Domestic Gas Cylinder: Local price is 7 JOD, while its actual global cost reaches 12.3 JOD.

The committee noted that the government did not reflect the full global increases onto local markets, passing on only about 35% of the actual increase on diesel, while fully absorbing the rise and freezing prices for petrol, kerosene, and gas cylinders without imposing any increase on citizens.

Details of Government Subsidies and Fixed Tax Freezes

This decision embodies the government's approach of gradual adjustments and bearing the largest share of costs to ensure economic and living stability and protect the transport, industrial, and commercial sectors. The subsidy figures and tax measures taken are distributed as follows:

• Financial Subsidy Volume: The government has borne a cumulative direct subsidy since the beginning of the regional crisis until the end of May, estimated at around 170 million JOD.
• June Subsidy: Fuel subsidies for June pricing are expected to reach approximately 29 million JOD.
• Tax Freeze on Kerosene and Diesel: The fixed tax remained completely frozen on kerosene, alongside a freeze on the largest part of the tax imposed on diesel, as the value of direct government support for these two commodities exceeded twice the value of the prescribed tax for them in the months of April and May.
• Previous Petrol Tax Freezes: Approximately 41% of the tax on Octane 90 petrol and around 22% on Octane 95 petrol were frozen during April, and about 16% of the tax on Octane 90 petrol was frozen during May.

Continued Support for the Industrial and Productive Sector

Within the framework of the policy aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of national products and mitigating production costs, the committee announced targeted support for the industrial sector during the month of June amounting to around 3 million JOD.

This includes the continued freezing of the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) allocated for industries at 695.81 JOD per ton, despite its actual global price reaching 929.58 JOD per ton.
