In an exceptional engineering feat that bridges the gap left by Land Rover in the luxury utility vehicle segment, renowned British tuning and bodycrafting firm Urban Automotive has officially unveiled its latest creation: the Defender Widetrack Avontur.

Making its dramatic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, this luxury truck stole the spotlight with its radical conversion of the iconic Land Rover Defender into a two-door pickup. It features a commanding widebody stance alongside extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber.

Structural Conversion: Re-Engineering the Land Rover Defender

Engineers at Urban Automotive utilized a standard Land Rover Defender 110 Hard Top commercial model as the baseline foundation for this unique build. The modification process involved intricate and highly precise structural engineering steps:

• Chassis & Body Modification: The rear section of the roof was sliced away and the rear passenger doors were entirely removed, converting the long-wheelbase SUV into a distinctive two-door, short-cab pickup.
• Reinforcing Structural Rigidity: To uphold safety and vehicle dynamics, custom chassis bracing was integrated alongside a heavy-duty roll cage directly behind the cab. This guarantees the high torsional rigidity required for demanding off-road excursions.

Carbon Fiber Cargo Bed and Aggressive Styling

The open rear cargo bed is the defining centerpiece of the Widetrack Avontur, crafted entirely from high-strength carbon fiber instead of traditional steel or aluminum. The bed incorporates both practical and high-end lifestyle features:

Exterior Aesthetics and Aerodynamics

The complete conversion package comprises over 36 individually designed, bespoke components. It endows the vehicle with body-colored widebody fender flares, a redesigned vented hood, a sharp front splitter, and a custom rear spoiler.
