Mercedes-Benz is preparing to unveil two new variants of the G-Class in 2026, reflecting the company’s commitment to expanding its offerings in the luxury SUV segment. The new variants include a Cabriolet (convertible) version and a smaller, compact model referred to as the “Baby G” or “Little G.”
G-Class Cabriolet: A Return to Classic Design
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the return of the G-Class Cabriolet, featuring a foldable roof that delivers an open-air driving experience. This version is expected to be available in most global markets, including the United States. The Cabriolet is anticipated to share the same platform as the standard G-Class, with a range of engines, including a 3.0-liter inline-six producing 443 hp, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 577 hp, and a fully electric variant producing 579 hp.
“Baby G”: A Smaller G-Class Variant
To attract a wider customer base, Mercedes-Benz is developing a smaller version of the G-Class, nicknamed the “Baby G” or “Little G.” This compact model will retain the iconic design cues of the traditional G-Class, offering a similar driving experience but with dimensions more suited for urban environments. The Baby G is expected to be fully electric, with powerful and efficient electric motors.
Launch Timeline and Pricing Expectations
The official unveiling of the G-Class Cabriolet and Baby G is expected in 2026, with deliveries to customers planned for later that year or in early 2027. Pricing for the Baby G is anticipated to start around $55,000 to $65,000, making it an attractive option for buyers seeking a G-Class experience at a more competitive price point.
