Jaguar has officially unveiled its all-new Type 01, marking the beginning of a new era for the British brand as it transitions toward high-performance luxury electric vehicles.

The global debut of the Jaguar Type 01 took place in New York City. The car is a four-door luxury GT that combines bold design, advanced electric technologies and high performance, making it the first production Jaguar to use the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform.

Jaguar describes the Type 01 as its most powerful, aerodynamic and technologically advanced production car to date. Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the second half of the same year.

Up to 1,030 HP

The Jaguar Type 01 is powered by a three-motor electric powertrain with all-wheel drive and Intelligent Torque Vectoring, which intelligently distributes torque between the wheels to enhance stability and responsiveness.

The system produces up to 1,030 hp and 1,365 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful road-going production Jaguar in the brand’s history.

The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.2 seconds, while accelerating from 100 to 180 km/h takes just 4 seconds.

However, the Type 01 is not focused solely on acceleration. Jaguar has engineered the car to provide what it describes as a strong reserve of power, while maintaining a 50:50 weight distribution to balance sporty performance with everyday comfort.

118 kWh Battery and Up to 724 km of Range

The Type 01 is equipped with a usable 118 kWh battery, combined with an 850-volt electrical architecture.

According to Jaguar, the car can achieve up to 400 miles under the EPA cycle, while its WLTP range reaches approximately 450 miles, equivalent to around 724 km.

The vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, allowing it to add up to 200 miles, or approximately 321 km, of driving range in around 13 minutes.

Jaguar says the system has been engineered to provide long-distance capability while reducing charging stops.

A New Design Language for Jaguar

The Type 01 features a radical design that differs significantly from traditional Jaguar models, with a low roofline, a long hood, a short front section and extended side lines.

The car is equipped with wheels measuring up to 23 inches, while introducing a new design language for the brand based on horizontal lines and distinctive visual elements.

At the front, the car features ultra-slim LED headlights, while Jaguar’s signature Strikethrough design element stretches across the front and appears again at the rear through the full-width taillights.

One of the Type 01’s most distinctive design features is the absence of a conventional rear window. Instead, the vehicle uses a camera system and an interior display to provide rear visibility.

Jaguar’s Most Aerodynamic Car

Jaguar has focused heavily on aerodynamic efficiency, incorporating several engineering solutions including active air vents and a three-stage deployable rear spoiler.

The car has a 0.23 Cd drag coefficient, making the Type 01 Jaguar’s most aerodynamic production vehicle to date.

The car has also benefited from more than 360 patent applications related to its technologies and engineering, highlighting Jaguar’s efforts to establish a completely new direction for the brand.

Air Suspension and Four-Wheel Steering

The Type 01 features air suspension on all four wheels, with air springs offering adjustable stiffness and active two-valve dampers.

It also comes with four-wheel steering, allowing the rear axle to turn by up to 6 degrees. This improves maneuverability at low speeds while enhancing stability and responsiveness at higher speeds.

Together with the low center of gravity and balanced weight distribution, these systems are designed to combine the comfort expected from a luxury GT with sporty driving dynamics.

Luxury Interior with a New Design

Inside, Jaguar has adopted a different design philosophy that divides the cabin into separate zones for each occupant. A central spine runs through the cabin and features copper-effect aluminum details.

A 24-inch glass OLED display is positioned in front of the driver, while a smaller 7-inch central display controls various vehicle functions.

The Type 01 also features the Jaguar Immersive Sound System, along with a panoramic audio system extending across the width of the cabin, creating an experience that combines sound, lighting and design.

The car is also equipped with a panoramic roof with electronic blinds, as well as different cabin ambience settings that adjust lighting, fragrance and blind positions according to comfort or activity modes.

More Than 5.2 Meters Long

The Jaguar Type 01 measures approximately 5,235 mm in length, giving it a substantial road presence despite its low-slung design.

Despite its size, Jaguar has worked to improve its maneuverability in urban environments through the rear-wheel steering system, which reduces the turning circle and makes the vehicle easier to handle in tight spaces.

The car also offers more than 450 liters of total cargo capacity, along with hidden storage compartments and additional space beneath the luggage floor.

The Beginning of a New Era for Jaguar

The Jaguar Type 01 is more than just a new electric vehicle for the brand. It represents the first production model of a new generation of Jaguar vehicles, following the Type 00 concept previously unveiled by the company.

The Type 01 name reflects Jaguar’s new philosophy. “Type” refers to the brand’s historic vehicle heritage, while the first “0” represents its zero-emission electric powertrain, and the “1” indicates that it is the first model of Jaguar’s new generation.

Orders for the Jaguar Type 01 are expected to open in early 2027, with the first customer deliveries scheduled for the second half of the year.

With a starting price of around £130,000, the Type 01 enters the high-end luxury electric vehicle segment as Jaguar seeks to redefine its position in the premium automotive market through bold design, electric performance and advanced technologies.
