Jordan Fuel Prices for May 2026: Government Absorbs 17% Global Surge; Prices of Kerosene and Gas Kept Stable

The Fuel Pricing Committee announced today, Thursday, April 30, 2026, the new fuel prices for the upcoming month of May. This decision comes in response to the sharp rise in global crude oil prices, as Brent crude soared by 17% to reach $120 per barrel in April, up from $102 in March.

Official Price List (May 2026):

• 90-Octane Gasoline: 1000 fils per liter (The government passed on only 60% of the global increase).
• 95-Octane Gasoline: 1310 fils per liter.
• Diesel: 790 fils per liter (The government passed on only 16% of the global increase).
• Kerosene: Price fixed at 550 fils per liter (No increase).
• LPG Cylinder (12.5 kg): Price fixed at 7 JOD, despite the actual cost reaching 12.22 JOD.

By the Numbers: The "Containment" Policy and Subsidy Costs

The government continues its gradual approach to reflecting global price changes to protect citizens and economic sectors. Below are the gaps between the actual cost and the announced selling prices:

• Direct Subsidies: The government provided approximately 68 million JOD in direct support for May's pricing, in addition to 2.9 million JOD directed toward the industrial sector.
• 90-Octane Gasoline: Actual cost is 1061.3 fils, sold at 1000 fils.
• Diesel: Actual cost is 1147.27 fils, sold at 790 fils.
• Kerosene: Actual cost is 1128.89 fils, sold at 550 fils.

The Committee emphasized that these partial adjustments do not affect tax revenues but are intended to achieve a balance that mitigates the impact of high global market fluctuations.
