Adoption of Electronic Licenses Over Plastic Ones and Ceasing Cash Payments at the Licensing Department

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Department (DVLD) began implementing comprehensive digital transformation measures today, announcing the official adoption of the electronic license instead of the traditional plastic card, alongside the full implementation of the electronic payment system and the complete cancellation of cash payments across all its branches and centers in the Kingdom.

The department confirmed that the adoption of the digital license has been circulated to all Public Security personnel and traffic departments, enabling them to electronically verify vehicle registration validity during field duties.

How Does the New Electronic License Work? The Head of the Private Vehicles Division at the Licensing Department, Lt. Col. Mohammad Al-Da'jah, explained that the on-site licensing steps and procedures have not changed, except for the final mechanism of issuing the license:

Receipt Method: The license reaches the citizen as a Quick Response (QR) code or a web link via a text message (SMS) on their phone.

Field Verification: The link allows patrolling Public Security officers to instantly verify the validity of the vehicle's registration.

Data Recovery: In the event of losing the electronic link, citizens can easily retrieve it by visiting the Licensing Department.

Licensing Renewal Mechanism and Processing Financial Transactions Lt. Col. Al-Da'jah pointed out that the new system saved considerable time and effort, eliminating the need to move between multiple service windows, as completing financial transactions is now restricted to approved electronic means:

Remote Online Renewal: Vehicles that do not require technical inspection can have their registration renewed entirely via the Licensing Department's official website without the need to visit licensing centers.

Approved Payment Channels: These include the "eFAWATEERcom" system, E-Wallets, and direct banking applications.

In-Person Payment Options: Visitors inside the centers can pay their payment orders—either in cash or electronically—through Jordan Post staff available on-site within the licensing departments.
