The new "YangWang" brand from BYD is gearing up to unveil its new sedan, named the "BYD YangWang U6," which reports suggest boasts an impressive aerodynamic performance with a value of 0.195 cd, making it the best in the world.
While the YangWang U6 has not been officially revealed yet, it has appeared in patent drawings that showcase the complete exterior design of the car. The Chinese brand also announced the model's name and aerodynamic coefficient at the China Automotive Aerodynamics Conference.
During this conference, the YangWang U6 was depicted in a side view with a coefficient of 0.195 cd, and a chart was presented highlighting the best cars currently on the market in terms of aerodynamics.
One promising prediction is that if the BYD YangWang U6 succeeds in achieving the promised results, it will become the world's first in this field when it becomes a production model.
As with other models, achieving this record figure can only be done with a special version equipped with specific equipment, such as cameras instead of mirrors and aerodynamic wheel covers. Patent drawings reveal some design details, such as the sloping roofline.
The large headlights resemble those found in the BYD YangWang U9, with a wide front bumper opening. Other features include large side vents, a roof covered in black, chrome-trimmed windows, and an active rear spoiler.
It's evident that the use of cameras instead of mirrors is optional, as patent drawings show a model equipped with traditional mirrors.
A LiDAR sensor is mounted on the roof, and previous spy images from China revealed three screens on the dashboard.
Although precise dimensions for the YangWang U6 are not available at the moment, the dimensions appear to be similar to the BYD Chaser 07, which has a length of 4,980 mm, although it may be larger in size.
Reports from China suggest that the new car is likely to be a fully electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid, as the BYD platform can adapt to both types.
The fully electric version is likely to rely on the powerful YangWang quad-motor system, providing over 1,100 horsepower.
The car may also be equipped with the advanced Disus-X suspension system found in the company's sports cars, although this information has not been confirmed yet.
