Toyota Reveals the 2027 Camry in China with Major Interior Upgrades 15.6-Inch Screen and Massage Seats

Toyota has revealed an updated version of the 2027 Camry for the Chinese market, ahead of the Chengdu Motor Show, in a move reflecting the automaker's effort to keep pace with the rapidly rising tech expectations of Chinese consumers inside the cabin.
A Massive 15.6-Inch Screen, Standard on Every Trim
The biggest update to the 2027 Camry is the replacement of the previous 12.3-inch infotainment screen with a massive 15.6-inch display, now standard across every single trim level. The new screen:
- Runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip.
- Integrates climate control directly into its interface.
- Comes with an AI voice assistant supporting dual-zone voice recognition and continuous conversation.
- Supports Apple CarPlay, HUAWEI HiCar 5.0, and ICCOA Carlink, along with OTA updates.
The digital instrument cluster shrinks slightly to 8.8 inches, offset by an optional augmented-reality head-up display (AR-HUD).
A More Upscale Cabin: Massage, Heating, and Ambient Lighting
The cabin gains softer, more premium materials, highlighted by:
- Six-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and 10-point massage.
- Heated and cooled rear seats, power-adjustable and reclining up to 8 degrees.
- 64-color interior ambient lighting.
- A crystal-style gear selector.
- A suede-style headliner and a panoramic glass sunroof.
- A premium 14-speaker JBL sound system.
- A 50W fast wireless charger, an interior fragrance system, a digital rearview mirror, and a digital key function.
- A Xiaomi-compatible accessory interface, enabling tablet mounts in the rear.
Exterior Design Unchanged
Unlike the substantial interior overhaul, Toyota made no notable changes to the exterior design of the 2027 Camry, retaining the same overall look as the current generation.
Engine Lineup: No Changes
Toyota carried over the same engine lineup previously offered in the Chinese market:
- A standard 2.0L engine producing 170 hp.
- A 2.0L hybrid producing 197 hp.
- A 2.5L hybrid producing 230 hp.
The Bigger Picture
This shift toward large screens and a tech-heavy cabin isn't unique to the Camry — it reflects a broader trend in China's auto industry, where global automakers are racing to match local consumers' high in-car technology expectations, even if it means fully reworking a cabin while keeping the platform and powertrains unchanged.
Pricing
According to regional sources, pricing for the updated Camry in comparable markets starts from around RM80,400 for the base trim (prices vary by market and local tax structure). No official announcement has been made yet regarding this updated version's arrival in Arab markets.
