Interesting reports from Automotive News suggest that Ford is planning to discontinue the Escape SUV model. The company's official spokesperson, however, has confirmed that the Escape model remains a significant member of Ford's vehicle lineup, especially after the successful launch of the new 2023 model.
The company has neither confirmed nor denied the discontinuation of the Escape model after the current generation ends in 2025. Reports indicate that Ford may introduce an electric version to replace the Escape at that time.
It's worth noting that the Escape model received a mid-cycle refresh at the end of last year, with updates to its design and technology. Important interior updates include the new SYNC 4 infotainment system, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, a 13.2-inch entertainment screen, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Ford Escape is available in various trims, including the base model with a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine producing 180 horsepower, available in both front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. There's also a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 250 horsepower and all-wheel drive for the ST-Line Select and ST-Line Elite trims.
Additionally, the vehicle comes in a plug-in hybrid version, combining a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor and a CVT transmission, producing a total output of around 210 horsepower and an estimated electric-only range of approximately 55 kilometers.
The first generation of the Escape model was launched by Ford in 2001, followed by the second generation in 2008, the third generation in 2013, and the current generation in 2020.
